Q News Feature Dr. Julien Grosmaire

We’re thrilled to share that our resident koala veterinarian, Dr. Julien Grosmaire, is featured in the November edition of Q News. Julien’s journey in veterinary science reflects a lifelong dedication to animals and a deep commitment to conservation and inclusivity in the veterinary profession.

Growing up with a love for animals, Julien pursued a degree in veterinary science, initially working with domestic animals in Tamworth. He joined Endeavour Veterinary Ecology (EVE) to combine his expertise to the field of koala health and conservation, where he has quickly become an integral part of our team. Now living on-site, Julien plays a critical role in providing veterinary care to koalas across diverse habitats, traveling frequently to our client projects throughout koala habitat to support the health and resilience of this iconic species.

“Most people believe that koalas are lazy,” Julien explains. “It’s easy to think that when you see them lounging in trees by day, but they’re actually quite active at night. They travel impressive distances to seek out new habitats, homes, and mates. I love studying the hidden lives of koalas—there’s so much to learn about them.”

Diversity and Inclusion in the Veterinary Community

Beyond his work with koalas, Julien is a passionate advocate for diversity within the veterinary field. This month’s Q News feature highlights his dedication to making veterinary science more inclusive. Working with initiatives like the Pinnacle Foundation and the Veterinary Kaleidoscope, Julien actively supports diversity and inclusion, helping to break down barriers so that more people can access and thrive in this rewarding profession.

At EVE, we take immense pride in the commitment and passion our team members bring to koala conservation. Many of our staff extend their efforts beyond their work with us, devoting time and skills to causes that create a positive impact in the world. We’re proud to see Julien’s contributions recognised in Q News this month.
